good day 🙋🏾‍♀️ so i took to substack t good day 🙋🏾‍♀️ so i took to substack to share key takeaways from Emerging Media Diversity Conference.
for the full read, link is in my bio. ✨

of course, it's important to be in the room, but it's what you do with said information that is the real indicator of how you value the gems bestowed.💎

subscribe to my newsletter "The Makings Of" where I break down insights on my journey of being a creative business owner and multi-faceted artist. happy sunday 💜✨
if i knew then what i know now ✨💜 what's some if i knew then what i know now ✨💜
what's some advice you would give to your younger self?

#selflove #phillycreative #thecolorduchess #selfawareness

you're just not going to get this quality in the m you're just not going to get this quality in the machine manufactured hat from the beauty supply store, or from shein 🤷🏾‍♀️ DM me for custom colors ✨💜
which color combo is your favorite? 👀
Love me a good workstation reset! But these chair Love me a good workstation reset! But these chair wheels?!?!
They’ve been rolling through yarn, afro hair, and broken dreams 🥴
Just grab a seam ripper and cut your cleaning time in half.

Be forreal... when’s the last time you cleaned yours? 👀
I’ve been putting off retwisting my hair, but I I’ve been putting off retwisting my hair, but I finally got to it. it took 4 hours one day, 6 hours the next.
i had intentions to capture my whole process on camera and get some good content.

but see, ol girl consistently kept bringing me pretend tea and running in and out for for potty time—which always entails a hand washing song… every.single.time.

so my content vision went out the window, and this is what I got instead 😵‍💫😂 angles ain’t but so bad but it’s certainly not what i had in mind.

the old me would’ve scrapped ALL OF IT and waited for the “right” content moment: a perfect setup with uninterrupted time, and a semi-organized space.
but this past year taught me that this creative motherhood journey is not about waiting for perfect conditions.
it’s all about building IN the chaos, not seeing what you can come up with after the smoke clears.
so y’all, I’m posting what I have instead of not posting at all…

now if you’re a creative mom waiting for the “right time” to start - let this be your sign.

the interrupted process IS the content.
done is better than perfect!!!
& sometimes, done means perfect. i’m oddly enjoying this unconventional spin on things, 🥴
now let’s see where it takes us LOL

I can’t be the only one who is building something in the tiny margins between pretend tea parties and having real deadlines!
started my birthday with THEE most flavorful, well started my birthday with THEE most flavorful, well balanced, and indulgent plant-based meal I’ve had in all my 9 vegan years.

@fitzon4th is an amazing experience nestled in a very cozy and intimate spot. our server Meg was a breath of fresh air, and her energy set the tone for a relaxing delightful evening.

I left with nothing to critique (which for me is uncommon—IYKYK 😵‍💫🫠

✨it’s not everyday that you get to meet the woman behind the magic, so it was equally great to give Alison her flowers! 💜

i am counting down until my next visit for more toothsome tapas!!
so i'm in the space of defining my own family trad so i'm in the space of defining my own family traditions, alongside events that are a big deal in society but of zero significance to me. i didn't grow up celebrating Halloween, but my Nana did. and the only way i'd get a costume or go trick or treating is if i was at Nana's house. that was something my mom chose to be lenient about because she trusted my Nana would keep us safe.

that being said, my child will not participate at all, with anyone, ever. i haven't that amount of trust in a single soul.

as a mom, i believe in providing unbiased information about holidays to my offspring.. she's still young, and i'm very comfortable discussing the origins of rituals and symbols. so when i'm asked "why don't you celebrate XYZ holiday" my answer is simple. "that's not what we do."

PS. this farm experience left a lot to be desired. i checked before i pulled up, the reviews were great!! but i'm not people. 🙃
