I’ve been putting off retwisting my hair, but I

I’ve been putting off retwisting my hair, but I finally got to it. it took 4 hours one day, 6 hours the next.
i had intentions to capture my whole process on camera and get some good content.

but see, ol girl consistently kept bringing me pretend tea and running in and out for for potty time—which always entails a hand washing song… every.single.time.

so my content vision went out the window, and this is what I got instead 😵‍💫😂 angles ain’t but so bad but it’s certainly not what i had in mind.

the old me would’ve scrapped ALL OF IT and waited for the “right” content moment: a perfect setup with uninterrupted time, and a semi-organized space.
but this past year taught me that this creative motherhood journey is not about waiting for perfect conditions.
it’s all about building IN the chaos, not seeing what you can come up with after the smoke clears.
so y’all, I’m posting what I have instead of not posting at all…

now if you’re a creative mom waiting for the “right time” to start - let this be your sign.

the interrupted process IS the content.
done is better than perfect!!!
& sometimes, done means perfect. i’m oddly enjoying this unconventional spin on things, 🥴
now let’s see where it takes us LOL

last night, at the Emerging Media Diversity Awards Reception, I had the opportunity to witness journalists and creative professionals being honored for their impact on media.

of course i'm inspired, and deeply considering what it means to build a legacy that contributes to the culture in a multitude of meaningful ways. congratulations to all the honorees!

i'm ready for day 2 💜✨

and the truth?
the child learns so much MORE watching me build than she ever would watching me wait.

I’m creating with her, but I’m building for us.

my factory setting is to go into hiding, so believe me when I say, I did a VERY hard reset because honey this is life after I said NEVER WOULD I EVER! 😂 there’s some major changes round these purple parts.
